The splendid fairy-wren lives up to its name, with males dazzling in electric blue plumage during the breeding season while females and non-breeding males sport softer brown tones with a hint of blue. These tiny, energetic birds flit through arid scrublands and open woodlands across much of Australia, often seen darting between low shrubs in family groups. Despite their delicate looks, splendid fairy-wrens are tough survivors, enduring hot, dry conditions by sticking close to dense cover. They feed on insects and small seeds, chatting constantly with soft, high-pitched calls. Known for their cooperative breeding, family members often help raise each other’s chicks—a true team effort in the outback!
- Fabric: Mid weight, 100% combed organic cotton (15% viscose in marle colourways) sustainably grown without herbicides or pesticides.
- Fit: Regular fit with a crew neck.
- Construction: Side-seamed, GOTS-certified, with neck ribbing, shoulder-to-shoulder tape, and double needle hems. It is also pre-shrunk to minimize shrinkage.
Care- for maximum print life:
- Turn inside out: Always invert your shirt before putting it in the wash to reduce friction against the Direct-to-Garment (DTG) ink.
- Cold & gentle: Wash the garment on a cold cycle (under 30°C) on your machine's gentlest setting.
- Mild detergent only: Use standard, mild washing powder. Avoid heavy-duty detergents, enzymes, and bleaching agents (even non-chlorine ones, if possible).
- No softeners: Do not use fabric softeners, as these can strip or degrade the coloured inks.
