Reptiles (Reptilia) and Amphibians (Amphibia)
Reptiles have been thriving in Australia for millions of years, adapting to everything from deserts and rainforests to reefs and rocky coastlines. Australia is home to more reptile species than any other country on Earth, with over 1,000 species recorded.
Amphibians may be less conspicuous than reptiles, but Australia's frogs are masters of survival. Some species can remain dormant underground for years, emerging only when rain transforms the landscape into a temporary wetland.
