The Great White Shark is the ocean’s ultimate power swimmer—sleek, muscular, and built like a high-speed missile with teeth. Growing up to 6 metres long, it uses its incredible sense of smell, electroreception, and sharp eyesight to detect prey from astonishing distances. Despite their fearsome reputation, great whites spend much of their time cruising calmly through coastal waters, often rising from the depths to investigate objects with a curious (and surprisingly gentle) nudge. They’re apex predators that play a crucial role in keeping marine ecosystems balanced, and they can even leap clear out of the water when hunting seals—because if you’re going to be a shark, why not also be dramatic about it?
