And like their seahorse cousins, it’s the males that carry the eggs, attached beneath their tails until they hatch. Weedy seadragons face threats from habitat loss, pollution and damage to the seagrass and seaweed habitats they rely on. In Victoria, the Victorian National Parks Association runs Dragon Quest, a project helping monitor and understand weedy seadragon populations in Port Phillip and Western Port Bays.
